Meet the Provider

My name is Mrs. Laniohan, and I am excited to be considered as your child’s daycare provider. During the rise of the pandemic, I served as a Nassau County School Specialist in the NY State Contact Tracing Initiative. My role was to guide and serve the school community by assisting nurses, administrators, educators, and parents, while enforcing and supporting local laws and regulations to minimize the spread of COVID-19. I am fluent in Spanish and have years of educational training and experiences. I graduated with my associates degree in theater in 2009 from Suffolk Community College, and then completed a year at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California to pursue my acting career. My initial approach was to become an acting teacher, however, after obtaining my associates degree in theater, these experiences encouraged me to return to school and shift my career goals into becoming an educator. My passion for teaching was influenced by my mother who has been a daycare provider for over 25 years, in addition to my brother who is an educator in the Central Islip School District. I have worked in summer camps, daycares, in a local church as a Sunday school teacher, as well as being the drama instructor for the non-profit organization Rescuing Our Youth (ROY). I am happy to say that amid many uncertainties of the unknown global pandemic, I graduated in June 2020 from Grand Canyon University with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

As mentioned before, circumstances have influenced my career path - working with the local health department and schools, while being able to do so conveniently in a remote setting, ignited the passion of pursuing my own business and launching Rocky Bye Baby Daycare! I genuinely love to serve others and want to inspire children through exploration, play, and academics, while helping them to smoothly transition into school. I believe in embracing cultural diversity and in providing authentic learning experiences to all. Each will receive equal learning opportunities and be treated fairly. What does “fair” mean? “Fairness depends on needs” (Lavoie, 2005). As a daycare provider, I will ensure to implement effective strategies and accommodations that would service each individual child. I would establish a positive relationship and maintain a caring and warm positive environment. I would set realistic goals and high expectations for all. I would uphold ethical conduct and will comply with all rules and regulations required by OCFS throughout my professional career.

The Environment

Low child-to-staff ratios are critical to ensuring that children receive adequate care and sets the stage for high-quality interactions between the provider and children.

Our child to provider ratio for Rocky Bye Baby Daycare is as follows: One caregiver may care for a maximum of six children younger than school age, or eight children when at least two of the eight children are school aged.

Within our care, we strive to provide a clean, safe and educational environment for young children. Children develop skills that promote physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth. We further believe that within our environment, children can thrive into responsible members of society.
